EPL: Ruud Gullit reveals major error Rosenior has started making at Chelsea, names unhappy player

Former Chelsea star, Ruud Gullit, has raised concerns about manager Liam Rosenior after Chelsea’s loss to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semifinal. Gullit believes Rosenior’s tactical choices have started to negatively affect the team and made one of his players, Liam Delap, feel unhappy during the match.

According to Gullit, Rosenior’s decision to play a back five, aimed at containing Arsenal, came at the expense of Chelsea’s attacking flow. This setup left the team struggling to apply consistent pressure, and Delap, who was played out of position on the wing, could not contribute effectively in attack.

Gullit explained that the £30 million summer signing, normally a centre forward, was tasked with tracking Arsenal’s left-back Piero Hincapie. This prevented him from linking up with Joao Pedro and made the forward appear uncomfortable and frustrated. He suggested that starting Delap alongside Pedro in a more natural attacking formation could have improved Chelsea’s chances.

The former Dutch international acknowledged the reasoning behind Rosenior’s tactical setup but argued it hindered Chelsea’s ability to go forward. Gullit emphasized that Chelsea’s attempt to attack Arsenal failed as a result, ultimately leading to their elimination. Arsenal will now face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final, after City defeated Newcastle United in the other semifinal.
