2027: Why Muslim-Muslim ticket favours APC – Farouq Aliyu

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, APC chieftain Farouq Aliyu suggested that maintaining a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket may be in the best interest of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He emphasized that the party and its leadership would ultimately decide the composition of the ticket based on political calculations and overall party strategy.

Aliyu noted that the choice between a Muslim-Muslim, Muslim-Christian, or Christian-Christian ticket rests entirely with the party and its candidate. He added that APC members have been cautioned against speculating about Vice President Kashim Shettima’s position or the future ticket arrangement.

The chieftain explained that demographic factors, particularly the larger Muslim population in northern Nigeria, could influence the party’s decision. He argued that such considerations make a Muslim-Muslim ticket a politically advantageous option, though the final choice remains subjective and determined by party leadership.

Aliyu concluded that while individual opinions may vary, the APC will prioritize decisions that maximize electoral success. The party will evaluate numbers, regions, and voter dynamics before finalizing the ticket for the 2027 elections.
