Qatar Stars League club, Al Ahli SC, have officially confirmed the signing of Nigerian defender and former Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong. The experienced centre-back joins the club as part of efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the remaining part of the season.
Troost-Ekong moved to Al Ahli SC from Saudi Arabian side, Al Kholood, where he enjoyed a solid spell. The 32-year-old defender signed a contract that will keep him at the Qatari club until June 2028, showing the club’s confidence in his experience and leadership qualities.
At Al Ahli SC, Troost-Ekong will wear his preferred number five jersey. During his time with Al Kholood, he featured in 49 matches across competitions and found the back of the net twice, contributing both defensively and offensively to his former team.
The signing of Troost-Ekong is seen as a major boost for Al Ahli SC as they aim to finish the season strongly. His wealth of experience at club and international level is expected to bring stability to the defence and help the team build momentum in the Qatar Stars League.
