A wave of excitement has swept through communities in Enugu State as the All Progressives Congress (APC) e-registration exercise gains traction, triggering healthy competition among wards. Across several local government areas, residents and party leaders are striving to outdo one another in enrolment numbers, turning the registration drive into a show of unity, mobilisation, and growing political interest.
The exercise was officially launched in Ugbawka Wards 1 and 2 in Nkanu East LGA, Amaechi Ward 1 in Enugu South LGA, and Awgu Ward 2 in Awgu LGA. At the flag-off in Ugbawka, Nkanu East Council Chairman and ALGON Chairman, Hon. Sydney Edeh, said the rising support for APC reflects visible governance outcomes under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah. He cited improvements in federal road projects, relative exchange-rate stability, and the end of repeated herdsmen-farmer clashes in the area.
In Awgu Ward 2, business leader High Chief Francis Osita Nwobi described the mobilisation process as smooth, noting that trust between leaders and the people made participation easy. Meanwhile, at Amaechi Ward 1, former Commissioner Chief John Egbo vowed that the ward would emerge as the best-performing unit in the registration drive and deliver strong results for the APC in the 2027 elections. Former House of Representatives candidate, Mrs Juliet Egbo, also welcomed the influx of new members, calling the APC’s growing acceptance in Enugu a strategic move for the Southeast.
Addressing participants, the State Coordinator of the APC e-registration programme, Chief Flavour Eze, said the exercise was a presidential mandate and revealed that Governor Peter Mbah had promised incentives for wards with the highest enrolment figures. While dismissing claims that workers were being forced to register, the APC Caretaker Committee Chairman in Enugu State, Barr Ben Nwoye, insisted the process remains voluntary, describing such allegations as tactics by a frustrated opposition. As the exercise continues, the friendly rivalry is fast strengthening the APC’s grassroots presence across the state.
