Public affairs analyst, Shehu Sani, has warned that security forces alone cannot ensure the safety of all communities across Nigeria. He emphasized the need for citizens to take an active role in protecting their neighborhoods through vigilance and collaboration with law enforcement.
Sani made the remarks while speaking on social media, stressing that relying solely on the military and police is insufficient to curb crime. He noted that community involvement is crucial to preventing criminal activities and ensuring quick responses in emergencies.
He further highlighted that local vigilance groups, neighborhood watches, and cooperation with security agencies can strengthen overall safety. According to him, ordinary citizens have a responsibility to report suspicious activities and support law enforcement efforts.
The analyst also urged the government to provide resources, training, and legal backing for community-based security initiatives. He concluded that a combined approach of professional security forces and proactive communities is essential to maintain peace and order nationwide.
