He died  when Nigeria desire people to unite faiths –  CMF mourns Imam Abubakar

The Christian and Muslim Fellowship (CMF) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Imam Abubakar, describing his passing as a painful loss at a time Nigeria needs unity among people of different faiths. The group said the late cleric stood for peace, tolerance, and understanding between Christians and Muslims.

In a statement, CMF noted that Imam Abubakar was widely respected for promoting interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence. According to the fellowship, his voice and actions helped reduce tension and encouraged mutual respect in communities where religion could easily become a source of conflict.

CMF said the timing of his death is especially painful because Nigeria is facing serious social, religious, and security challenges that require unity rather than division. The group stressed that leaders like Imam Abubakar are crucial in guiding society toward peace, love, and national cohesion.

The fellowship urged Nigerians to honour the late Imam by continuing his work of promoting harmony across religious lines. CMF called on religious leaders and followers alike to reject hatred and extremism, and instead embrace dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful living as Imam Abubakar did during his lifetime.
