Tax laws: Watch out for January salary – NRS boss, Adedeji tells income earners

The Executive Chairman of the National Revenue Service (NRS), Adedeji, has advised Nigerian income earners to closely monitor their January salaries due to the implementation of new tax laws. According to him, recent changes in tax regulations may lead to adjustments in how salaries are calculated and paid.

Adedeji explained that the reforms are aimed at improving government revenue and ensuring fairness in the tax system. He noted that some workers may notice slightly higher deductions, especially those whose income brackets have been affected by the updated rules.

He urged employers and payroll managers to properly apply the new guidelines to avoid errors and confusion. Workers were also encouraged to ask questions and seek clarification from their employers or tax offices if they notice unusual changes in their pay slips.

The NRS boss stressed that the goal of the reforms is not to punish workers but to create a more transparent and balanced tax structure. He appealed for patience and cooperation as the system adjusts to the new tax framework.
