A former commissioner in Abia State has criticised the state government, alleging that Governor Alex Otti is only focusing development efforts on his home local government. According to the former official, other areas in Abia are being left behind while Otti prioritises projects within his LGA.
Speaking during an interview, the ex-commissioner said that communities outside Otti’s local government are facing neglect in terms of infrastructure, healthcare, and education. “It appears the government is concentrated on one area while the majority of Abia State continues to wait for attention,” he added.
The former commissioner further urged the governor to adopt an inclusive approach to development, ensuring that all local governments benefit from state resources. He highlighted that equitable distribution is necessary to promote unity, peace, and progress across Abia.
Meanwhile, citizens in other LGAs have expressed frustration over perceived imbalances, calling on the government to implement policies that benefit the entire state. Advocates emphasised that localised governance may undermine overall growth if not addressed.
