AFCON: 2 countries eliminated from quarter-final stage

Two teams have been eliminated from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after the conclusion of Friday’s quarter-final matches in Morocco. The teams are Mali and Cameroon, who both failed to secure a place in the semi-finals.

Mali’s journey ended after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Senegal in a tightly contested match. Despite their strong performance throughout the tournament, they could not find a way past the Senegalese defence and were forced out of the competition.

Cameroon also bowed out of the tournament after losing 2-0 to host nation Morocco. The Moroccans used home support and tactical discipline to control the match, denying Cameroon any real chance of a comeback.

Attention now turns to the remaining quarter-final matches scheduled for Saturday. Nigeria will face Algeria in a highly anticipated clash, while Egypt will battle defending champions Ivory Coast in another exciting fixture later in the day.
