Oyo 2027: Oke-Ogun indigenes urge APC to zone governorship ticket to area

Indigenes of the Oke-Ogun region in Oyo State have called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone the 2027 governorship ticket to their area. Speaking at a town hall meeting in the region, community leaders said it is time for Oke-Ogun to produce the state’s next governor after several terms have been dominated by other zones.

The leaders argued that zoning the governorship to Oke-Ogun will promote equity, fairness, and unity in the state’s politics. They noted that giving the area the opportunity would recognize its contribution to the state’s development and strengthen political inclusion across all zones.

According to the community representatives, residents have been patient and supportive of the APC over the years, and zoning the ticket to Oke-Ogun would be a reward for their loyalty. They urged party leaders to consider historical patterns and grassroots sentiments in making the decision.

The call is expected to spark discussions within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections, as other zones also position their candidates. Political observers say balancing regional interests will be key to maintaining party unity and ensuring broad support across Oyo State.
