Former presidential aide, Okoi Obono-Obla, has said it was needless for Vice President Kashim Shettima to publicly warn Nyesom Wike over political leadership in Rivers State. He made the statement while reacting to recent comments by the Vice President concerning internal party issues in the state.
According to Obono-Obla, party leadership matters in Rivers should be resolved internally by the party’s organs rather than through public statements by top government officials. He argued that such warnings could deepen political tensions and make reconciliation more difficult.
He added that Wike remains an influential political figure in Rivers State and should be engaged through dialogue and established party mechanisms instead of public cautioning. Obono-Obla warned that public confrontations often create more divisions rather than solutions.
He therefore urged political leaders to exercise restraint and allow party structures to handle disputes quietly, stressing that unity and stability within political parties are necessary for effective governance.
