INEC urges Lagos residents to participate in second phase of Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on residents of Lagos State to take part in the second phase of the ongoing voter registration exercise. The commission said the process is important for citizens who want to vote in future elections but are yet to register or need to update their details.

INEC explained that the second phase is meant for new voters, those who have turned 18, and people who want to transfer their registration, correct personal information, or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). The commission assured residents that the exercise is simple, free, and available at designated centres across the state.

Officials encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the opportunity so their voices can be heard during elections. They warned that waiting until election season may lead to overcrowding and delays, making it harder for people to complete the process on time.

INEC also appealed to community leaders, religious bodies, and civil society groups to help spread the message so more people can participate. The commission stressed that mass participation will strengthen democracy and ensure that elections truly reflect the will of the people.
