Kano State Police have arrested 172 people during a special operation targeting motorcycles (okadas) and tricycles (keke napep) across the state. The crackdown aimed to reduce traffic violations, prevent crimes, and improve public safety.
According to the Kano State Police Command, the operation focused on riders who failed to follow traffic laws, operated without proper documentation, or engaged in criminal activities. Officers also seized several motorcycles and tricycles during the raids.
The police stressed that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to ensure order on the roads and protect citizens from theft, accidents, and other unlawful acts. They called on all commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators to comply with traffic regulations.
Authorities warned that future operations would continue until public safety is fully guaranteed. They urged residents to report any illegal riders to help the police maintain law and order in the state.
