Police arrest international romance suspect over alleged billion Naira scam

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a suspect allegedly involved in an international romance scam that defrauded victims of billions of naira. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, is said to have lured unsuspecting victims through online dating platforms and social media.

Authorities revealed that the suspect used fake identities to build trust with victims before convincing them to transfer large sums of money. The case reportedly involved both local and international victims, highlighting the global reach of such scams.

The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and more arrests could follow as the probe into the syndicate continues. Officials urged the public to exercise caution when engaging in online relationships and warned against sending money to unverified contacts.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other law enforcement agencies are working closely with the police to track financial transactions linked to the scam and recover the defrauded funds.
