A Rivers State chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emeka Bekee, has confirmed that Governor Siminalyi Fubara will run for a second term under the party in 2027. Bekee made the statement on Wednesday while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, amid ongoing political tension between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara.
Bekee added that while APC conducts elections through consensus and voice votes, governors who recently joined the party may have automatic tickets for reelection. He emphasized that Fubara is expected to secure his nomination in line with party processes.
“All of us will be surprised if all governors who recently joined the party automatically get tickets. Fubara will benefit from the agreement if the central leadership and governors decide so. Rivers State must move forward without political crises,” Bekee said.
The APC chieftain concluded that Fubara’s reelection bid aligns with the party’s plan for stability and continuity in Rivers State governance, and if he wins the primary, he will become the APC candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
