Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to Chelsea’s decision to sack head coach Enzo Maresca, describing it as an unfortunate but common reality in modern football. Speaking after Arsenal’s latest league match, Arteta said managerial changes are often driven by short-term pressure rather than long-term plans.
Arteta expressed sympathy for Maresca, noting that coaching jobs at top clubs come with intense expectations and little patience. He said the Italian manager is talented and will likely get another opportunity soon, adding that football can be very unforgiving even when progress is being made.
The Arsenal boss also pointed out that stability is important for building a successful team, stressing that frequent changes can disrupt players and slow development. However, he acknowledged that club owners and boards have the right to make decisions they believe will bring results.
Arteta concluded by saying that while every club must choose its own path, he hopes managers are given enough time to build their ideas. He wished Maresca well and said he expects to see him back in the Premier League or another top league soon.
