Former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has praised two Nigerian players for their strong performance in the team’s match against Tanzania in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He said their display showed hunger, discipline and commitment on the pitch.
Although the former striker did not go into technical details, he highlighted the players for their energy, decision-making and ability to influence the game positively. He noted that their performances helped Nigeria control large parts of the match and kept the team organised.
Aiyegbeni added that such performances are important as Nigeria prepares for bigger challenges ahead in the tournament. According to him, the team needs more players willing to step up and take responsibility in crucial matches.
He encouraged the coaching crew to continue giving opportunities to players who show consistency and dedication, stressing that competition within the squad will help improve the overall quality of the Super Eagles ahead of AFCON 2025.
