2027: Those defecting to APC shameless – CUPP

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has strongly criticised politicians who are defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to the group, such moves show a lack of integrity and disrespect for Nigerians who voted based on party platforms and promises.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, CUPP Secretary-General, Peter Ameh, said politicians who switch parties after elections have no moral justification. He argued that many of those defecting openly campaigned against the APC during elections, only to later join the same party they criticised.

Ameh questioned the credibility of defectors, suggesting that their actions undermine the democratic process. He noted that voters deliberately chose candidates over the APC at the polls, making post-election defections a betrayal of public trust and the mandate freely given by the electorate.

Despite the current trend, CUPP expressed hope that Nigerians would continue to demand accountability from their leaders. Ameh recalled the 2023 elections as a sign of growing public awareness and urged citizens not to give up, insisting that Nigeria deserves leadership built on principle, consistency, and respect for voters’ choices.
