The Lagos State Judiciary has sworn in 130 newly appointed Notaries Public, strengthening the state’s legal and documentation system. The swearing-in ceremony took place in Lagos and was attended by senior judicial officers, legal practitioners, and family members of the appointees. The move is aimed at improving access to notarisation services across the state.
Speaking at the event, judicial officials reminded the new Notaries Public of the importance of integrity, professionalism, and strict adherence to the law. They noted that notaries play a vital role in authenticating documents, administering oaths, and supporting both individuals and businesses in legal transactions.
The officials also urged the appointees to see their new responsibility as a public trust. According to the judiciary, abuse of office or misconduct would not be tolerated, as notarised documents carry legal weight and public confidence must be protected at all times.
The newly sworn-in Notaries Public expressed appreciation for the opportunity and pledged to discharge their duties responsibly. The development is expected to reduce delays in legal documentation and improve efficiency within Lagos State’s justice system.
