Lagos court jails Adonai Institute provost for forging LASU result notification

A Lagos court has sentenced the Provost of Adonai Institute to prison after finding him guilty of forging a result notification allegedly issued by Lagos State University (LASU). The court ruled that the document was fake and presented with the intent to deceive authorities for personal gain.

During the trial, prosecutors explained that investigations showed the LASU notification did not originate from the university. Evidence presented in court revealed inconsistencies in the document, which LASU officials later confirmed as forged. The judge said the act undermined the integrity of academic records.

The court held that forgery is a serious offence that damages public trust in educational institutions. In delivering judgment, the judge stressed that academic fraud would not be tolerated, especially when committed by individuals expected to uphold ethical standards in education.

The conviction has sparked reactions within academic and legal circles, with many calling it a strong warning against certificate forgery. Observers believe the judgment will discourage similar acts and reinforce the importance of honesty and due process in Nigeria’s education system.
