Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided his houses and offices after he publicly referenced sections of the Salami Report that allegedly indicted the commission’s chairman, Ola Olukoyede. Malami claimed the actions were targeted and meant to intimidate him.
According to Malami, the raids took place shortly after he mentioned the report, which investigated alleged misconduct within the EFCC. He argued that the timing raised serious concerns about abuse of power and the use of state institutions to settle personal or political scores.
The former justice minister insisted that his comments were based on official documents and not personal attacks. He said Nigerians deserve transparency and accountability, especially when allegations involve top officials in sensitive anti-corruption agencies.
Malami called on relevant authorities to ensure due process and protect the rule of law. He also urged civil society groups and the judiciary to closely watch the situation, warning that intimidation could weaken public trust in the fight against corruption.
