A United States lawmaker, Representative Moore, has raised serious concerns about the continued killing of Christians in Nigeria. He insisted that many believers are losing their lives daily due to attacks linked to insecurity, terrorism and religious violence in different parts of the country. According to him, the situation has gone on for too long and deserves urgent global attention.
Rep Moore said reports from human rights groups and faith-based organisations show that Christian communities are often targeted, especially in rural areas. He noted that families are displaced, churches destroyed and livelihoods ruined, leaving survivors with deep trauma. The lawmaker stressed that these attacks are not isolated incidents but part of a wider security problem.
The US representative called on the Nigerian government to do more to protect vulnerable communities and bring perpetrators to justice. He also urged the international community, including the US government, to engage Nigeria more strongly on security reforms, intelligence sharing and the protection of religious freedom.
Moore added that silence from global leaders could worsen the crisis. He said sustained pressure, diplomatic engagement and support for peace-building efforts are necessary to stop the killings and restore confidence among affected communities across Nigeria.
