Farouk Aliyu, a political analyst, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would have welcomed a victory in the Anambra governorship election. According to him, the party saw Anambra as a key state to expand its influence in the southeast.
He noted that although APC has made significant gains in other regions, winning Anambra would have strengthened the party’s position ahead of future elections. The political landscape in the state, however, presented challenges that ultimately prevented the party from securing a win.
Aliyu explained that Anambra’s political dynamics are unique, with strong local parties and influential figures playing crucial roles in election outcomes. This makes it difficult for national parties like APC to establish dominance without strategic alliances.
Despite the setback, he said APC continues to work on building grassroots support and improving its outreach to voters in the southeast. The party remains committed to participating actively in upcoming elections across Nigeria.
