No body died of Cholera, Empox, Diftheria in Abia in 2025 -State govt

The Abia State Government has stated that no resident died from cholera, mpox, or diphtheria in the state throughout 2025. The clarification was made to address rumours and public fears about disease outbreaks circulating on social media and other platforms.

Health officials explained that while a few suspected cases were reported during the year, all patients received prompt medical attention. According to the government, early detection, proper treatment, and improved surveillance helped prevent any loss of life.

The state government credited its success to strengthened healthcare systems, regular disease monitoring, and public awareness campaigns. Officials said health workers were placed on alert, while isolation centres and response teams were prepared to handle emergencies if needed.

Residents were advised to remain calm but continue observing good hygiene practices such as regular handwashing, clean water use, and early hospital visits when symptoms appear. The government also urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid spreading false health reports.
