Two dead in head-on collision on Sagamu–Benin Expressway

A tragic accident on the Sagamu–Benin Expressway has claimed the lives of two people after a head-on collision between two vehicles. According to eyewitnesses, the crash happened in the early hours of the day and caused heavy traffic in the area. Emergency responders arrived quickly but were unable to save the victims due to the severity of the impact.

Officials explained that the accident was caused by dangerous driving, with one of the vehicles reportedly veering off its lane. The force of the collision left both cars badly damaged, making rescue efforts difficult. Passengers who survived were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Road safety officers have warned drivers to be more careful, especially on major highways like the Sagamu–Benin route. They noted that overspeeding, driving against traffic, and poor visibility often lead to fatal accidents. The officers also urged motorists to maintain their vehicles properly and avoid risky behaviour on the road.

The authorities confirmed that the bodies of the two deceased victims have been deposited at the mortuary. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and officials say stricter enforcement will continue to prevent further loss of lives on Nigerian roads.
