Troops foil robbery, rescue kidnap victims in Taraba

Troops operating in Taraba State have stopped a robbery attempt and rescued several kidnap victims during a recent security operation. According to reports, the soldiers were on routine patrol when they encountered armed criminals blocking a road and attempting to attack travellers. The troops quickly engaged the robbers, forcing them to flee and abandoning the victims they had earlier taken.

Security officials confirmed that the rescued individuals were immediately given medical attention and reunited with their families. The troops also recovered weapons and other items left behind by the fleeing criminals. The operation is part of the ongoing effort to clear criminal hideouts and make the state safer for residents and travellers.

Authorities praised the soldiers for their quick response and bravery, noting that their actions helped prevent what could have been a deadly attack. They explained that constant patrols and surveillance across the state have reduced criminal activities, especially along major roads known for kidnappings and robberies.

Residents of the affected area expressed relief and gratitude, saying the successful rescue has restored hope in the fight against banditry. Many also called for sustained military presence to ensure long-term peace and security in Taraba and neighbouring communities.
