The National Security Adviser (NSA) has officially handed over 100 rescued pupils of St Mary’s Catholic School to the Niger State Government. The children were freed after weeks of security operations carried out by combined forces working to dismantle the gang behind their abduction. At the brief ceremony, officials praised the courage of the young victims and assured families that the government remains committed to protecting schools from future attacks.
Niger State authorities expressed deep gratitude to the security agencies for their swift response and teamwork. According to them, the rescue shows that coordinated efforts among the military, police and community groups can bring positive results. They also promised to provide medical checks, counseling and full rehabilitation support to help the children recover from the trauma they experienced.
Parents of the released pupils were visibly emotional as they reunited with their children. Many said they had lived in fear since the abduction and thanked the government for ensuring their safe return. They urged security agencies to intensify the fight against kidnappers so that no other family would have to endure such pain.
Officials added that security measures around schools would be strengthened across Niger State. They encouraged communities to report suspicious activities quickly and pledged that the government would continue working round the clock to make the state safe for learning.
