Residents of a community in Kwara State are in fear after bandits kidnapped three members of the same family during a late-night attack. The armed men reportedly stormed the area, shooting into the air and forcing their way into the family’s home before taking the victims away. Locals said the attack caused panic, as many families hid indoors throughout the night.
Security sources confirmed the incident and explained that the kidnappers escaped into a nearby forest. The police and local vigilante groups have since launched a joint search operation aimed at rescuing the victims. Authorities also urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel by providing useful information.
Community members described the rising cases of kidnapping in Kwara as heartbreaking and asked the government to do more to secure rural communities. Many say the fear of attacks has affected their daily routines, especially for those who travel at night or work on farms far from town.
Officials assured the public that every effort is being made to bring the kidnapped family members back safely. They restated their commitment to tackling banditry and improving safety across the state through better surveillance, patrols, and community partnerships.
