The recent Supreme Court ruling on the Osun Local Government issue has triggered different reactions from the two major political parties—the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). While the APC praised the judgment, describing it as a victory for democracy and fairness, the PDP insisted the ruling did not reflect the true situation on ground.

According to the APC, the court’s decision has corrected what they called years of illegality in the management of local government affairs. They argued that the judgment would help restore proper governance at the grassroots and ensure accountability.

However, the PDP dismissed the APC’s celebration, saying the ruling does not erase the progress already made under its administration. The party maintained that it had governed the councils lawfully and accused the opposition of trying to mislead the public for political gains.

Political analysts say the mixed reactions show how deeply both parties are invested in the LG matter. Many residents are now calling for stability and clear guidelines to prevent further conflicts between state authorities and local government structures.
