Former France international Emmanuel Petit has stated that Barcelona winning the UEFA Champions League this season is “almost impossible.” Petit compared the club to a casino, saying that their style of play is unstable and unpredictable. According to him, a team that wants to win Europe’s biggest trophy must show consistency, something he believes Barcelona currently lacks.
Petit argued that Barcelona have become too dependent on individual brilliance rather than teamwork. He noted that while the club still has talented players, their overall performance has not reached the level required to compete with Europe’s strongest teams. He emphasized that the Champions League demands discipline and balance, not just moments of magic.
The former midfielder also pointed out that Barcelona struggle to maintain control in crucial matches. Petit claimed that the team often allows opponents easy chances and fails to manage the game when under pressure. He warned that such weaknesses are costly in a tournament where every mistake can lead to elimination.
Petit concluded by saying Barcelona must rebuild their identity if they hope to become Champions League contenders again. He advised the team to focus on structure, stability, and tactical improvement. Until then, he believes they will continue to fall short of lifting the trophy.
