The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano has confirmed the arrest of 11 individuals suspected to be involved in armed criminal activities across the state. According to the command, the arrests followed a series of coordinated operations aimed at dismantling groups responsible for robbery, assault, and other violent crimes. Officials say the suspects were picked up from different locations after weeks of surveillance.
The NSCDC noted that the operation was part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen security and restore public confidence in law enforcement. The command hinted that weapons and dangerous items were recovered from the suspects during the raids. It added that the arrests send a strong message to criminal groups hiding within communities.
Authorities further explained that investigations are already underway to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement. The NSCDC said the individuals will face prosecution once the investigation is completed. The command reassured residents that it will continue to work with other security agencies to ensure criminals have no hiding place in Kano State.
Residents have welcomed the arrests, describing them as a positive step towards reducing violence in the state. Many expressed hope that continuous raids and proactive policing will help curb the activities of criminal gangs. They also called for more community cooperation to support security efforts.
