The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a major illegal drug warehouse stocked with opioids worth an estimated N6.7 billion. The discovery followed a well-coordinated intelligence operation that led officers to the hidden facility, where large quantities of tramadol, codeine-based syrups, and other banned substances were stored.
According to NDLEA officials, the warehouse was operated by a network of traffickers who supplied dangerous drugs to different parts of the country. The agency said the syndicate had been under surveillance for weeks before the decisive raid was carried out. Several suspects were arrested, and more investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the group.
The NDLEA explained that these drugs contribute significantly to rising cases of addiction, crimes, and health emergencies among young people. The agency stressed that the operation is part of its renewed effort to dismantle drug cartels, disrupt supply chains, and protect communities from substances that destroy lives.
The agency also promised more raids and tighter monitoring of high-risk areas where drug dealers operate. NDLEA urged Nigerians to cooperate by reporting suspicious activities, noting that public support is important in winning the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
