The Nigerian Army has restated its commitment to carrying out neutral and professional security operations in Taraba State, especially within the affected chiefdom. The assurance came after concerns were raised by community members over recent security activities in the area. Army officials emphasized that their role is to protect citizens and maintain peace without taking sides.
According to the Army, all operations in the Taraba chiefdom are guided by strict rules of engagement. They explained that soldiers are trained to remain fair, avoid any form of bias, and focus only on restoring safety in troubled communities. The military also urged residents to cooperate with security personnel, noting that strong collaboration helps prevent misinformation and boosts effective responses.
The Army further stated that ongoing investigations will help identify the real sources of the disturbance in the chiefdom. They assured the public that any wrongdoing discovered—whether by civilians or security personnel—will be addressed according to the law. The leadership stressed that transparency is key to earning the trust of the people.
With this renewed commitment, the Army encouraged traditional rulers, stakeholders, and locals to continue working with them to ensure lasting peace in Taraba. They added that the ultimate goal is to create a safe environment where community members can live and carry out their activities without fear.
