As the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) celebrated its 25th anniversary, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar called on Northern and Nigerian leaders to work together to rebuild unity and confront rising insecurity. Atiku said the region can only progress when leaders speak with one voice and focus on solving issues affecting communities across the North.
He explained that insecurity has become one of the biggest challenges slowing down development. Atiku urged governments at all levels to invest in better security measures, support security agencies, and listen to the concerns of local communities. According to him, peace is the foundation for growth and must be treated as a top priority.
Atiku also praised the ACF for its long-standing role in promoting dialogue and defending the interests of the North. He encouraged the Forum to continue pushing for good governance, fairness, and policies that benefit citizens. He said the ACF’s voice remains important in guiding leaders and shaping the region’s future.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to remain united despite political and economic tensions. Atiku said the country needs cooperation, not division, to overcome challenges and move forward. He encouraged leaders to focus on nation-building and work towards a peaceful and stable Nigeria.
