Air Peace runway incident: NEFGAD demands independent probe of NSIB report

The Network of Flight Distributors and Aviation Development (NEFGAD) has called for an independent investigation into the report released by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) regarding the recent Air Peace runway incident. The group says the official findings leave important questions unanswered and may not reflect the full picture of what happened.

According to NEFGAD, the NSIB report contains grey areas that require deeper scrutiny, especially concerning the aircraft’s condition and the sequence of events leading to the runway excursion. The group stressed that aviation safety is too important to rely solely on one agency’s explanation, urging the government to involve external, neutral investigators.

NEFGAD also expressed concerns about the impact of conflicting reports on public trust in Nigeria’s aviation sector. They argued that an independent probe would help restore confidence, ensure transparency, and protect both passengers and airline operators from misinformation.

The group concluded by insisting that only a thorough, unbiased review can determine whether Air Peace, regulatory authorities, or technical factors were truly responsible for the incident, adding that the safety of Nigerian airspace must remain the highest priority.
