Wike-backed PDP expels Makinde, Mohammed, Dauda

The Wike-led faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has officially expelled governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, and Suleiman Dauda over alleged anti-party activities. The decision follows ongoing tensions within the party regarding leadership and internal conflicts.

PDP insiders explained that the expulsions are aimed at curbing actions considered detrimental to party unity and ensuring adherence to party directives. The Wike faction emphasized that disciplinary measures are necessary to maintain the party’s cohesion ahead of upcoming elections.

The affected governors are yet to publicly respond, but political analysts predict that the move could further deepen divisions within the PDP, raising concerns about the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, supporters of the Wike-led faction insist that the decision is legitimate and within the party’s constitution, asserting that anyone acting against PDP interests will face strict consequences.

The expulsions have sparked debates among political observers and party members nationwide, highlighting the growing factionalism and the urgent need for reconciliation within the PDP.
