Renowned Islamic scholar Sheik Gumi has challenged Reverend Dachomo to provide evidence supporting his claims of Christians being killed by Muslims in Plateau State. Gumi stated that such allegations must be backed by facts rather than hearsay to avoid escalating religious tensions.
He emphasized the need for responsible reporting and dialogue, urging religious leaders to verify information before making public statements. According to Gumi, spreading unverified claims can inflame existing conflicts and harm community relations.
Reverend Dachomo had previously claimed that several Christians were victims of violence allegedly perpetrated by Muslims, a statement that has drawn wide attention and sparked debate across the state.
Sheik Gumi urged both Christians and Muslims in Plateau to focus on peace-building and reconciliation, stressing that leaders on both sides have a role in maintaining harmony and preventing misinformation.
The call for clarity and accountability comes amid ongoing religious and communal tensions in Plateau State, highlighting the critical role of accurate reporting in fostering social stability.
