ISWAP terrorists launched a sudden attack on a Nigerian Army convoy, resulting in multiple soldiers being killed and the reported abduction of a commanding officer. The ambush took place in a remote area, highlighting the persistent security challenges in the region.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers struck swiftly, using improvised explosives and firearms to halt the convoy. Soldiers attempted to resist, but the terrorists overpowered them, leaving behind casualties and destroyed military vehicles.
The Nigerian Army has confirmed the incident and stated that search and rescue operations are underway to recover the abducted commander and neutralize the terrorists. Authorities are also investigating the attack to prevent future ambushes.
Security analysts warn that such attacks demonstrate the ongoing threat posed by ISWAP in northeastern Nigeria and call for strengthened military strategies and community cooperation to curb insurgent activities.
