Work with Tinubu to end targeted killings – PFN urges Trump

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has appealed to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to collaborate with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in addressing the persistent issue of targeted killings and religious violence in Nigeria.

In a statement released on Thursday by PFN’s National President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, the Christian body urged the American government to show compassion and help Nigeria combat the growing wave of persecution and insecurity affecting Christian communities in the northern region.

Bishop Oke noted that the recent global attention on Nigeria’s religious conflict should be a wake-up call for both domestic and international leaders. He emphasized that the killings and attacks on innocent citizens — especially those targeted for their faith — must stop.

“We call on President-elect Donald Trump and other world leaders to work with our president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to end the bloodshed. Innocent lives are being lost, and peace has become fragile in many parts of our nation,” the statement read.

The PFN also encouraged the Nigerian government to strengthen security measures, ensure justice for victims, and promote interfaith dialogue to restore harmony. According to the group, faith leaders have a moral duty to speak out and act to prevent further violence.

The fellowship expressed hope that cooperation between Nigeria and the U.S. could bring about greater support in tackling extremism, rebuilding affected communities, and reinforcing peace initiatives across the country.
