‘Onyendu’ – Moment Supreme Court workers hail Nnamdi Kanu as he arrives premises

There was excitement at the Supreme Court premises in Abuja as supporters and court staff hailed the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, upon his arrival. The crowd could be heard shouting “Onyendu!” — a title meaning “our leader” — as Kanu was escorted into the courtroom under tight security.

Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), appeared in court for the continuation of legal proceedings surrounding his detention and trial. His arrival sparked emotional reactions among supporters who gathered outside the court building to show solidarity.

Many of them praised his courage and resilience, calling for his unconditional release and describing him as a symbol of justice and freedom for the Igbo people. Despite the heavy security presence, the atmosphere remained peaceful but tense, as both legal observers and the public awaited the court’s position on the matter.

The event marks another chapter in the long-running legal battle between Nnamdi Kanu and the Federal Government, which has attracted both national and international attention.
