Former Nigerian diplomat and international political analyst, Joe Keshi, has criticized the Federal Government for its poor handling of the ongoing debate surrounding alleged Christian persecution in Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, Keshi described the government’s approach as insensitive and lacking empathy, accusing officials of worsening the situation through careless public statements.
According to Keshi, the government’s poor communication strategy has not only deepened public mistrust but also damaged Nigeria’s international image. He emphasized that in moments of crisis, the president must first address Nigerians directly to calm tensions and provide clarity.
“In a crisis period like this, the first constituency the president should speak to is the Nigerian people,” Keshi said. “The president has not spoken to us, and his spokespersons just come out and say whatever they like.”
Keshi’s remarks come amid mounting global criticism over reports of violence against Christian communities in parts of the country and accusations that the government has not done enough to protect victims or respond to international concerns.
