The Super Eagles have officially kicked off preparations for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers playoffs with their first training session on Monday. Head Coach José Peseiro welcomed 10 players to the national team camp as Nigeria begins its crucial buildup ahead of the playoff matches.
During the initial training session, Peseiro focused on assessing the players’ fitness levels, team cohesion, and tactical readiness. The session took place at the Super Eagles Training Centre, with attention on blending experienced players with new call-ups.
Despite only 10 players being present, the coach emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and sharpness as the team gears up for what could be a decisive stage in qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Peseiro encouraged the players to give their best while awaiting the arrival of the remaining squad members.
The first batch of players includes both local-based stars and overseas professionals, with some of them expected to lead the team in the upcoming playoff encounters. The Super Eagles’ management confirmed that the remaining players will join the camp in phases to complete the squad ahead of the matches.
Coach Peseiro concluded the session by stressing the significance of unity and focus, stating that the team is committed to delivering results for Nigerian football fans.
