Trump’s threats: We must not allow external narratives to divide us – Minister Attah

Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris Attah, has urged citizens to remain united and not allow foreign statements or political tensions to create division in the country. His remarks follow recent comments by former U.S. President Donald Trump, which sparked concerns and debates across Nigeria.

Minister Attah stressed that Nigeria must stand strong and protect its national unity, regardless of outside opinions or threats. He reminded Nigerians that external narratives are often aimed at causing fear or misunderstanding, and the best response is to remain calm and united. According to him, national interest should come first, above politics, religion, or ethnic differences.

The minister noted that moments like this require maturity, clear communication, and collective confidence. He insisted that the government is actively monitoring diplomatic developments and will continue to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty. He also encouraged citizens to avoid spreading panic and misinformation, especially on social media.

Attah further urged Nigerians to trust in the country’s leadership and institutions, assuring that diplomatic channels are being used to address all international concerns peacefully. He warned that allowing foreign rhetoric to cause internal conflict would only weaken the nation.

He concluded by calling for patience, unity, and patriotic cooperation, emphasizing that Nigeria has overcome global pressure before and will do so again through solidarity and resilience.
