The Police Command in Kebbi State has confirmed the kidnapping of the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Muhammad Sama’ila-Bagudo. The incident happened on Friday night in Bagudo Local Government Area when armed men stormed the town and abducted the lawmaker shortly after he returned from observing the Isha’i prayer.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, security forces reacted immediately and launched a search effort. A combined team of police tactical units, military troops, and local vigilantes is now combing nearby forest areas and suspected bandits’ escape routes to rescue the Deputy Speaker safely.
The Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, has reassured the public of the command’s dedication to protecting lives and property. He called on residents to remain alert and share any useful information that may help security agencies track down the kidnappers and secure the victim’s release.
As of now, the kidnappers have not contacted the family or authorities, and their demands remain unknown. The rescue operation is ongoing as security agencies intensify efforts to bring the lawmaker home unharmed.
