Iwobi confident Super Eagles will qualify for 2026 World Cup

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed strong confidence that Nigeria will secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Despite a difficult start to the qualifiers, the team managed to bounce back and make it into the playoff stage.

Nigeria finished second in Group C, behind South Africa, but still earned a place in the next round. The team will face Gabon in the semi-final playoff on Thursday, November 13, in Rabat, Morocco. This match will be crucial as the Super Eagles fight for a spot at football’s biggest tournament.

Speaking to CNN, Iwobi said the squad believes in their strength and ability. He noted that Nigeria has top talent, including recent African Player of the Year winners Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.

Iwobi admitted it would be disappointing not to qualify but insisted the players are more determined than ever. “We’ve rescued ourselves from the dead,” he said, adding that the team will give everything to book their ticket to the World Cup.

With growing confidence and the support of Nigerian fans, the Super Eagles will hope to deliver a strong performance and return to the global football stage in 2026.
