Nigerians expect results, not excuses – Tinubu tells new service chiefs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged newly appointed service chiefs to deliver concrete results in the fight against insecurity, saying Nigerians are tired of excuses and now expect real progress. The President made this clear while addressing the security heads shortly after their official appointment, urging them to work with urgency and discipline.

Tinubu explained that Nigerians have endured security challenges for too long, and citizens deserve peace and stability across the country. According to him, his administration will not tolerate complacency, as the mandate given by the people demands visible and effective action. He emphasized that leadership positions come with responsibility, not comfort or excuses.

The President also stressed teamwork among the military, police, and intelligence agencies, noting that strong collaboration is key to defeating criminal networks. He urged the service chiefs to adopt modern strategies, improve intelligence gathering, and strengthen community partnerships so that security operations are faster and more efficient. Effective coordination, he added, will ensure criminals have no hiding place.

Tinubu assured the service chiefs that the Federal Government will support them with necessary tools and resources to carry out their duties. However, he made it clear that performance will be monitored and accountability will remain a priority. He stated that his government expects professionalism, discipline, and measurable achievements in restoring public confidence.

The new service chiefs promised to justify the trust placed in them, stating they will put in their best to improve national security. With rising expectations from the public, the coming months will reveal how effectively the new military and security leadership will confront terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other threats across the country.
