Three police inspectors arrested for alleged brutal assault on colleague’s son over love affair

The Lagos State Police Command has detained three police inspectors over a disturbing assault that left a young man in a coma. The victim, 22-year-old Jacob Sunday, was reportedly attacked at the 22 PMF Barracks in Ogudu after being accused of having an affair with the wife of another officer.

According to reports, the incident happened around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The officers — Inspector John Alom (63 PMF Ikorodu), Inspector Sunday Adoga (CTU Base 2 Ikeja), and Inspector Jehovah Usam (22 PMF Ikeja) — allegedly tricked Jacob into entering their room before launching a brutal attack. Jacob, who is the son of Inspector Sunday Ochepo, was linked to a relationship with Sarah Richard, the wife of ASP Audu Richard, who also resides within the barracks.

Witnesses claim Jacob was stripped and beaten until he lost consciousness. The violent assault left him severely injured, prompting urgent intervention. Police detectives later rescued him and rushed him to the Police College Cottage Hospital in Ikeja, where he is currently being treated in the emergency unit.

The Lagos Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the three inspectors. They are now in custody, and an internal investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances of the attack and ensure justice is served. The case has sparked outrage, with many calling for strict disciplinary action to uphold police ethics and human rights.

The Command assured the public that it does not condone abuse of power or internal violence among its personnel. As the investigation continues, the authorities have promised transparency and accountability in handling the matter, stressing that no officer is above the law.
