Super Falcons aim to become global powerhouse – Ajibade

Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has declared that the Nigerian women’s national team is focused on becoming a dominant force on the global stage. According to her, the time has come for the team to step beyond African success and make a strong mark internationally.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons remain the most successful women’s team in Africa, boasting 10 continental titles and having qualified for every FIFA Women’s World Cup since the tournament began. However, despite their impressive record on the continent, competing against world-class teams has been a challenge.

Ajibade explained that the team is no longer satisfied with only African achievements. Instead, they are determined to rise and compete at the same level as the world’s top football nations. She stressed that Nigeria has enough talent to become a true powerhouse in women’s football.

Speaking to FIFA.com, the Paris Saint-Germain winger said, “We don’t just want to be African champions anymore. We want to be global contenders. We want to go past our current level because we know we have the quality and talent to do it.”

With young talents emerging and improved support for women’s football, many fans believe this could be a new era for the Super Falcons — one where they challenge the best and bring global recognition to Nigeria.
