LaLiga: I’m sorry – Vinicius apologizes after El Clasico bust-up

Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior has issued a public apology following his emotional outburst during last weekend’s El Clásico match, where Madrid secured a 2-1 victory over Barcelona. The Brazilian forward reacted angrily after being substituted in the 72nd minute by manager Xabi Alonso, storming off the pitch and heading straight toward the dressing room.

His behaviour sparked reactions from fans and media, as he was seen shouting and gesturing toward the bench in frustration. The moment amplified discussions about tension at the club after earlier reports of strained relations between Vinícius and his coach.

However, Vinícius moved quickly to address the incident. On Wednesday, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to express remorse, saying he regretted his actions and emotions in such a high-pressure match. He also apologised directly during training to his teammates, club president Florentino Pérez, and the coaching staff.

“Today I want to apologise to all Madrid fans for my reaction to being substituted in El Clásico. Just as I did in person during today’s training session, I also want to apologise again to my teammates, the club, and the president,” Vinícius wrote. He added that his passion and desire to help the team sometimes lead to emotional reactions, stressing that his love for Real Madrid remains strong.

With tensions now seemingly cooled, Real Madrid supporters hope the episode will be put behind them as the team continues its push for success this season. Vinícius’ apology signals a commitment to team unity, and the club will be keen to move forward with focus and discipline.
