LaLiga: ‘He’ll never change’ – Burley criticises Vinicius over Alonso behaviour

Former Chelsea star Craig Burley has taken a swipe at Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior following his reaction to being substituted in the El Clásico victory over Barcelona. The Brazilian forward drew attention not only for his performance but for his attitude when leaving the pitch.

Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu, with goals coming from Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham. However, the spotlight shifted when Vinicius was replaced in the 72nd minute and showed frustration towards manager Xabi Alonso, storming off before eventually returning to the bench.

Burley, speaking on ESPN FC, stressed that Vinicius’ behaviour was unacceptable during such a high-profile match. He noted that Real Madrid needed fresh energy on the pitch, but Vinicius reacted emotionally instead of understanding the tactical decision.

He further added that no player should leave the pitch in anger during a Clásico, especially when the match is still ongoing. Burley believes that while Vinicius later returned, the damage was already done, and Alonso appeared displeased with the star’s actions.

According to Burley, the forward must improve his composure but doubts the Brazilian will change his attitude anytime soon. “This is the type of behaviour he always shows, and I don’t think it will stop,” Burley said, urging Vinicius to start seeing the bigger picture as a team player.
